I’m sure by now you’ve heard about Jesse Jackson whispering to a colleague during a break of a Fox News broadcast that he wants to “cut (Obama’s) nuts off” for “talking down to black people.” He thought the microphones were off, made a weak ass apology claiming that he didn’t mean it and left me fuming at my computer desk...
I’m extremely annoyed because:
I had the idea in a staff meeting to do a story on the old guard versus the new guard of black leadership, focusing on how the old guard is becoming less and less relevant and comparing Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Barack Obama. And of course, this story decided that it wanted to break before our story did and now everyone is hot on the tracks of this old guard vs. new guard drama.
And
I honestly can’t believe that Jesse Jackson said it. I mean, I understand that he probably feels like he’s not getting enough credit for his work which sucks because J did a whole hell of a lot in his day to make sure that people like Barack could sit in those Harvard classrooms... but I still think that anyone who claims to care about the status of black people in America as much as Jesse does should be nothing short of happy that this is happening right now. I do not like haters and Jesse’s comments can be summed up as nothing less than hating.
My message to Jesse: Get down or lay down!
