I'm not a writer... but if I were, this is what I'd write about.

What if?

This thread has to be one of the most disturbing things I've ever read. The topic of discussion is, what is the best type of firearm in case of a riot.

First and foremost, the thought of another riot scares the hell out of me. I was seven years old when the Los Angeles riots erupted in 1992 and it was terrifying for me. I will never forget it- helicopters flying everywhere, army tanks traveling down the streets, sirens every three seconds, buildings burning down everywhere, my aunt's house being broken into while she was still in it, etc.

The reality is, riots like the one that occurred in 1992 and the Watts riots of 1965  that my mother actually lived through) affect us black people more than anyone else. So it's actually kind of funny that white people think that we're going to come to their neighborhoods and invade their homes/businesses. That should be the rioters aim... but it's never worked out that way in history so what do they have to worry about?

Of course I want Sen. Barack Obama to become President but if he doesn't, I do recognize that there is a real threat of riots breaking out but I'm praying that that doesn't happen for the black community's sake, and not for the sake of the gun toting white people who'll be running around ready to kill any nigga that so much as steps near their property. While I understand that praying is not enough... I know that there's nothing more than I can do right now. Maybe Sen. Obama will have enough foresight to give some sort of pre-election night speech... similar to the MLK "I may not make it to the mountaintop with you speech" to highlight the accomplishments he's made so far and to deter people from acting inappropriately to whatever the election results are.

What a riot looks like:

Los Angeles, 1965

Los Angeles, 1992

For the black community's sake, let's hope this doesn't happen.
