Here's what I learned: My Bachelor's degree from the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles and my swanky desk job only affords me enough money to live like a pauper... in Korea town.
Yes. The best apartments that I could find in my price range were all in Korea Town which was surprisingly quiet, despite it's proximity to Little Oaxaca, Mexico. No offense but it did get a little rowdy about 5 blocks down. All of a sudden the street corners were full like I was in a little Mexican version of New York. There were tacos, ice cream sandwiches, and fruit being peddled everywhere... clothes/yard sale wares draped off of every fence. But that's not the point.
Looking for an apartment makes me depressed because I feel like even after all of my accomplishments and hard work, I'm no better off than if I'd just skipped college and been working for TSA these last 5 and a half years (damn it's been that long?). I could've worked my way up to the person that looks over the shoulder of the person scanning the bags at security... at least then my salary would've been comparable. : (
