Body Spray or Smell Good?

Just a random thought...

My friend used the term "smell good" recently to refer to body spray and it got me to thinking... When, where and why did we start calling body spray "smell good?"

No seriously. Think about it... it makes absolutely no sense. It sounds like something someone said when they were having a brain fart and wasn't able to come up with the correct term "body spray." But yet it's become the standard term.

Do you use the term body spray? Or smell good? Tell the truth! I know I say smell good from time to time...
